MRSD Mask Guidelines Update - February 27, 2022

Dear Monomoy families and staff,

I hope everyone had a nice break. This is a reminder about recent updates to the MRSD mask guidelines. Per the Monomoy Regional School Committee’s vote on February 17, masks will be optional in all MRSD buildings as of February 28, with the exceptions noted below. In addition, on February 25, the CDC updated its transportation guidance to note that masks will no longer be required on school buses.

Exceptions:

  • masks will be required in our school health offices to protect both students and staff; and
  • anyone who tested positive for COVID and is returning to school after five days of quarantine must wear a well-fitting mask around others for an additional 5 days (per CDC guidelines).

We are confident that everyone in our school community will be respectful of each individual’s decision about whether to wear a mask. We ask that everyone continue to be vigilant about staying home when experiencing any illness. Participating in our testing programs will also help keep our schools safely mask-optional. If you have not yet signed up for weekly pooled and/or at-home testing, please do so now. Unique opt-in links were previously emailed to you.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow, Monday, February 28.

Scott Carpenter, Ed.D.
Superintendent
