May 11, 2023 — Monomoy Regional High School held a Future Teacher Signing Day ceremony on May 10, 2023, for students in the graduating Class of 2023 who plan to pursue careers in education. It’s common for college-bound student-athletes to hold signing day ceremonies when they sign their letter of intent to play sports; this event celebrated those students who plan to become educators.

Students heard remarks from MRHS Principal Jennifer Police and Career Education Coordinator Cheri Armstrong before reciting a pledge and signing their certificates of intent to become teachers.

In her remarks, Principal Police said, “Hopefully, in a few years, some of you will be back here signing employment contracts to work in our schools as certified educators.”

The students participating in the Future Teacher Signing Day were Anna Bianco, Kaeleigh Bourgea, Britanya Bucknor, Arianna Carchedi, Josh Cusack, Chloe Eldredge, Krys Prudeaux, Drew Ryan, Charlie Seif, and Lauren Upson.

These students, along with a number of others, were also celebrated for participating in education internships within Monomoy schools, including at the elementary, middle, and high school level. The mentor teachers who hosted the MRHS students in their classrooms this year were also invited to this special event.

National Teacher Appreciation Week is an ideal time to recognize future teachers, thank mentor teachers, celebrate the important work that educators do, and inspire students to enter the field of education.
