Monomoy School Committee member Terry Russell honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Terry Russell receives Lifetime Achievement AwardsNovember 8, 2022 ‒ Monomoy Regional School Committee member Terry Russell has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Massachusetts Association of School Committees. Lifetime Achievement is a designation established to honor individuals who, through their service to their community and their local school committee, have exhibited the best characteristics of public service.

Russell has been an active member of the Monomoy Regional School Committee since its inception in 2011. He served the community of Barnstable for 40 years as an educator, with 30 years of those years as an administrator.

He was nominated for this award by Ellen Holmes, MASC Immediate Past President, Ashburnham Westminster Regional School Committee, and Tina Games, Former Chair and Harwich Member, Monomoy Regional School Committee. In their nomination letter, Games and Holmes said of Russell, “His focus has been on children and providing them the tools to be their best selves. Whatever direction the world may take them, Terry strives to ensure they will be prepared and contributing citizens. His background demonstrates a clear commitment to the value of public education and a passion for learning.”

Russell was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award on November 4, 2022, at the Massachusetts Association of School Committees annual leadership dinner. In attendance to celebrate this honor were Russell’s wife Anne Marie, his son Mark Russell and his wife Bonnie Loedel, Monomoy School Committee member Tina Games, and Monomoy Superintendent Scott Carpenter.
