Return to Headlines

Dear Monomoy Families and Staff,

As we enter Memorial Day Weekend, it’s important to remember that this holiday is more than just the unofficial start of summer and a time for cookouts and fun in the sun. Memorial Day honors those men and women who have lost their lives while in military service, and we thank them and their families for that sacrifice.

When we return from this long weekend, there will be less than four weeks left of this school year – and our seniors are essentially done. They have finished classes and are now preparing for graduation. The MRHS Graduation ceremony will be held Saturday, June 3, at 6 p.m. on the turf field. It is such an exciting time for these young people, who are off to make their mark in the world.

At this week’s School Committee meeting, we welcomed a new member, Ryan Clarke, as well as re-elected members Meredith Henderson, Jacqueline Zibrat-Long, Betty Gray, and Scotti Finnegan. We look forward to Ryan’s fresh perspective on the board, and thank all of our members for volunteering their time for our students.

Last week, I shared information on the vaping crisis that our young people are facing – I ask that you continue to have regular conversations with the children and adolescents in your life about the dangers of vaping. Remember that our website has a number of resources here.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Scott Carpenter, Ed.D.
