Dear Monomoy families and staff,

Spring is certainly a busy time of year in our schools, with all sorts of activities on the calendar. On the academic end, there is ongoing testing (both MCAS and AP); many culminating projects, such as the middle school’s unit on The Finest Hours; and field trips for students across the district. The arts are also in full swing, with a production of The Lion King at Harwich Elementary, Senior Arts Night last night at the high school, and the MRHS spring concert next week.

Upcoming events include a PTO Fun Run at CES, and the Monomoy Interns Red Right Return 5K and family fun fair to benefit Dream Day on Cape Cod. This event was created and organized by high school students and benefits a great cause.

This week, we were honored to recognize members of the Class of 2023 at a Future Teacher Signing Day Ceremony – we are proud to see them pursuing careers in education. We also honored the students, teachers, businesses, and community members who participated in our internship program this year. These hands-on learning experiences are so important for students, and we are grateful to all who help make this program possible.

One of our longtime School Committee members, Sharon Stout, has ended her tenure on the board. We thank her for more than a dozen years of service to the students, staff, and schools in our community.

As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to an end, I must share that I continue to be so impressed with and proud of the amazing work that our educators do each and every day. I thank them today, this week, and all year long.

Take care.

Scott Carpenter, Ed.D.
