Dear Monomoy families and staff,

Two full months of this school year are in the books, and school is going swimmingly for our Sharks. Fall sports are wrapping up, with a number of our high school teams heading to playoffs. Work is underway for theater and music events at both the high school and middle school, and our elementary students are enjoying a number of exciting field trips. And, of course, there is great teaching and learning happening everywhere!

Many thanks to all who participated in the initial information-gathering phase for our Portrait of a Graduate endeavor. The feedback provided in the focus groups and in the survey will guide the process moving forward. The next phase of the project will have the Development Team meeting regularly to review the feedback and other school data. This team is made up of parents and caregivers, students, faculty and staff, administrators, School Committee members, and community members, and meetings will be facilitated by outside consultants. The group will meet frequently over the next few months in order to create a Portrait of the Graduate to present to the School Committee in February, with the final version published in March. We are excited for the conversations that this process ignites, and look forward to seeing the results. Updates will be shared on our website here.

We also encourage those interested in issues of equity and diversity to learn more about our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Advisory Council. The DEIBAC will advise the Superintendent and the School Committee on all areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, resulting in thoughtful actions that respond to the needs of all students and staff. Have a spooky weekend – stay safe.
