Monomoy Middle School teacher Emily Nyerick named Barnstable County Science Educator of the Year
November 15, 2022 -- Emily Nyerick, a STEM teacher at Monomoy Regional Middle School in Chatham, has been honored as the 2022 Barnstable County Science Educator of the Year by the Massachusetts Association of Science Teachers.
Nyerick was chosen to receive county recognition for her significant contributions and exemplary teaching and supervision of science education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The criteria for this award note that the educator has demonstrated: “A past history of being an active, contributing member of national, state, and/or local science teacher organizations; provided a leadership role in promoting and advancing the cause of quality science education among his or her peers; and active in promoting and advancing the cause of quality science education among students.”
Nyerick was nominated by fellow Monomoy Middle School science teacher Nancy Gifford, who herself was named the 2018 Massachusetts State Science Educator of the Year by MAST. Nyerick’s award was presented at the MAST annual banquet on November 8, 2022.
