• Harwich Elementary School - Summer Reading Program 2020

    Imagine your story!

    Imagine your story

    Who can participate?

All students attending Harwich Elementary in grades Preschool to Grade 4. You do not have to live in Harwich or have a library card. This is a free program!

Why should my child participate in the summer reading program?

Reading 20 minutes a day will prevent the loss of reading skills that can occur over the summer break.

What is the summer reading program?

Any reading counts! Have fun reading independently, being read to, reading to someone, or listening to audio books. Readers can collect the weekly prize from the prize table at Brooks Free Library between 10-4, Monday through Friday. Any student participating in the program is eligible for each week’s prize.

When does the summer reading program start?

Monday, June 22 (the last day of school).

How do we sign up for summer reading?

Sign up on the Brooks Free Library website, brooksfreelibrary.org, or call the library at 508-430-7562 ext 2 and ask for Youth Services. You or your child will keep track of the reading time and log it either online or by using the summer reading bookmarks available at Brooks Free Library (curbside checkout) and the Monomoy grab-and-go meals sites. The summer reading program runs until the end of summer vacation.

***If you cannot sign up, your child should read every day and keep track of their reading time. Reading time totals can be turned in to Mrs. Idman (Harwich Elementary Librarian) during the first week of school.***
